Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers split pot in Class 7A

The cross country powers in Arkansas -- Bentonville, Rogers and Fayetteville -- tangled all over the Oaklawn Park Race Track course in Hot Springs. 

The boys Class 7A Arkansas championship race saw Bentonville put four in the top 10 and finish with 35 points. Fayetteville was second with 46 points, led by overall winner Camren Fischer (15:44.3). Rogers was third with 72 points. 

In the girls 7A race, Fayetteville went 3-7-8-9-10 on the way to a team win and 37 points. Freshman Ali Nachtigal of Rogers won the race in 19:25.1 and led her team to second (61 points). Bentonville was third with 85 points.

Lake Hamilton had a big day in the Class 6A competition. The boys went 3-5-6-7-10 on the way to a low score of 31 points to lock down the team championship. And Josie Carson ran 19:18.9 to win the girls race by nearly 12 seconds. Jonesboro Senior's Damion Brown, a sophomore, won the boys race in 16:48.7. Siloam Springs put five scorers in the top 16 to grab the girls team win.

Alex Zangara of Morrilton won the 5A boys race by 35 seconds in 16:17.3. Maumelle put five in the top 20 to secure the team title. Ruthy Ryan from Harrison won the girls race in 20:13.9. Little Rock Christian put three in the top eight to clinch the team crown.

Cave City put three in the top six and scraped past Heber City 68-71 to earn the 4A boys team title. Huntsville scored 74 points to take third. Parker Ables of Heber Springs won the race in 16:49.9. The Heber Springs girls edged West Fork, 126-131 for the team title. Bekah Bostian from Prairie Grove won the race in 20:03.9.

Genoa Central swept the Class 3A team titles. Noah Eskew of Jessieville won the boys race in 16:31.6. His teammate, Jake Carter, was second (17:28.6). Freshman Kiley Webb won the girls race in 20:00.4 and had a margin of 56 seconds.

Fischer Miller from Sloan-Hendrix won the 2A/1A boys race in 16:48.5. Freshman Haley Gentry of West Side (Greers Ferry) won the girls race by more than a minute in 20:42.4.
